Expert Flute Classes in Monrovia, CA

Aside from the human voice, the flute is the oldest known musical instrument. The oldest flutes found by archaeologists are made of bear and avian bones, but today most flutes are made of silver-plated metals like brass, copper, and zinc combinations. Most professionals play on solid silver flutes.

Unlike its other woodwind siblings, the flute does not need a reed to play, but produces its sound just from the flow of air across an opening. You will learn all that and more when taking flute lessons at JFMA!

Discover the Joy of Playing the Flute

The flute is one of the oldest and most expressive musical instruments in the world. Flute Lessons FAQs

  • Should I play the flute?

We think so! The flute is one of the most versatile instruments for playing different styles and is used in classical, rock, jazz, pop, and hip-hop. One of the most famous flute players in popular culture is featured in our academy hallways, Kareem Abdul Jabbar. He took up playing the flute when he played basketball for UCLA to relax before games.

  • What age is best to start flute lessons?

Most students start around age 7 or 8, but teens and adults can also begin lessons and thrive with proper guidance.

  • Do I need to own a flute?

We recommend having your own instrument for practice, but our team can help you with trusted rental or purchase options in Monrovia.

  • How often should I take lessons?

Weekly lessons are standard for consistent progress, but we also offer customized schedules to match your availability and goals.
